Depart Raneleigh Barns hamlet, passing views of manor houses and thatched farms, and arriving at the church on the clifftop of Wemberry Beach. And with luck, pass by when the bell ringer is playing.

The River Yealm flows from south Dartmoor to the sea. There is a seasonal ferry across the mouth which connects the South west coast path and avoids a fairly long inland detour.

Lovely views from the ferry steps. A water taxi runs from here across the River Yealm towards Wembury. This is a seasonal ferry which operates between 1st April and 30th September from 10:00am - 4:00pm. If you want the ferry, and it's on the other side, flip the signal board open and the chap will come and get you.

Wembury is a nice beach with great rockpools, a small surf break and a Marine Centre run by the Devon Wildlife Trust. There is a large car park and a cafe. The South West Coast Path runs through here and the walking is good in both directions.

Steep steps down to beach, be prepared for a hike back up. The footpath down to the beach is easily missed.

From Gara Point you can enjoy wonderful views across the sea, along the coast and into the Yealm Estuary. You can also see the 19th century walls of Revelstoke Drive, a nine mile horse and carriage route built by Lord Revelstoke to flaunt his banking wealth. The walls were built to stop the carriages plunging off the cliffs and into the sea.
