The Strada Regia di Alemagna connected Venice with Augsburg in medieval times. Having crossed the Brennero, the road continued through the Pusteria up to Dobbiaco, passed Cimabanche and, having crossed the Cadore, descended along the Piave valley to Ponte nelle Alpi. From here it reached Serravalle and Conegliano, to cross the Piave at the Lovadina ford, until reaching the city of Treviso. It then proceeded on an embankment delimited by ditches, known as Terraglio, up to Mestre.

The cycle/pedestrian walkway over the Tesa stream constitutes the main (and most prestigious) element of a project promoted in 2010 by the Veneto region, the Alpago Mountain Community and the Municipality of Farra d'Alpago for the creation of a network of cycle tourism itineraries mountain in the area, in this case the construction of the Soverzene - Poiatte section, inserted in the broader context of the "Via Regia". The walkway is a cable-stayed bridge that extends over three spans for a total length of 110 m and a maximum span of the central span of 65 m, thus placing itself among the most important works in its category. The main structure consists of two steel portals that rise 16 m from the reinforced concrete piers on which the deck rests. In 2024 the catwalk was lit up in pink to celebrate the passing of the Giro d'Italia.
