Lake Accotink is a 55-acre reservoir situated along Accotink Creek. There are a bunch of trails around the lake (some paved and some dirt/gravel), and the Cross Country Trail through Lake Accotink Park is perfect for running.

The bald cypress is truly impressive. It is primarily found in flooded areas but can also survive severe droughts. Its extremely slow growth and very advanced age characterize it, as does its so-called "breathing knee," which grows upwards like a root against gravity, resembling a termite mound in its shape.

Visitor Center managed by NPS. If you find it closed, do not worry about the stamp on your Passport: you can find them pre-filled on the notice board.

Single trail along Lake Laura. Very technical to ride on gravel bike with tree roots and sharp rocks. MTB better suited.

Great place to take a break, use the restroom, or hop off your bike and hike the surrounding trails.
