Sooo beautiful and peaceful! Water is calm and easy. Great fun, very impressed with the facilities and options. Very busy but plenty of space on the lake so you never feel crowded.

A brief yet steep hike for panoramic views of Virginia's Piedmont region. The Upper Piedmont Overlook unveils a protected Eastern U.S. landscape. Wear sturdy, mud-friendly shoes for this occasionally slippery part of the trail.

The Sky Meadows State Park is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The former owner Paul Mellon named his property Skye Farm after the Scottish Isle of Skye. He donated the land in 1975 and since then it has not only been a great place for hiking and horseback riding, but it also offers the Mt. Bleak-Skye Farm. The Lower Piedmont Overlook is one of a few official viewpoints along the Piedmont Overlook hiking loop. There are open views of the valley, pastures, and surrounding meadow.

Lake Brittle is a 77-acre impoundment located in Fauquier County. It was constructed in 1953 as a public fishing lake. It is one of the oldest Department-owned lakes and among the first to be built in Virginia with Dingell-Johnson funds. Dingell-Johnson funds are provided by a federal excise tax on fishing tackle. Lake Brittle is located just east of Warrenton and only thirty miles from the Beltway. The lake’s average depth is about seven feet, and it has a maximum depth of 25 feet near the spillway tower.
