Fountain commemorates hydropower & basket makers

From 1860 onwards there were basket makers in Dettingen up to 23 in their prime

A long tradition in Dettingen. There are enough willows growing along the Iller River.

The town of Dettingen is located near Biberach/Riß and not far from Memmingen. The town has good transport links to the A7 motorway, and the train station is located in the neighboring town of Kellmünz. There are several new houses, but also older ones, whose architectural style clearly reflects the region's proximity to the Allgäu region. The town is fairly flat and, despite its modern houses, has retained a village feel. You can also spot beautiful farm gardens.

The hiking and cycling path runs in a straight line alongside the Iller River. The path is gravelled and grassy in the middle. Alongside the cycle path, you can see the floodplain forest. Between the Iller River and the cycle path, there is a grassy strip about 3 meters wide. Wildlife can probably be spotted here frequently, as there is a hunting lodge in between. At least the fish were also taken into consideration at the weir. A fish ladder is located along the edge.

After all the rain and the thaw, the water has overflowed its banks and creates this atmosphere with trees standing in the water.
