Approximately 2.5 kilometers from Tautenburg, on the Hohen Lehde, lies the so-called Serastein. Inextricably linked to this place is the name of the Jena publisher Eugen Diederichs. For him, Tautenburg and its surrounding forest were a central location, a place to which he felt connected for decades—a place of reflection and new beginnings, of play and joy. As a guest in Tautenburg, Eugen Diederichs stayed with Forester Mihm in July and August 1908. He resided in the Old Forester's Lodge, the oldest house in Tautenburg. Diederichs had gathered around him a circle of young people who were searching for alternative paths in life. Among these young people was Eugen Diederichs, affectionately and respectfully known as "Father Diederichs." Since 1904, people had been meeting at his home in Jena, initially for social tea evenings, from which the ›Sera Circle‹ later emerged: In Germany, as a result of the youth movement, we had a folk dance movement.

The Beutnitz Church is probably the oldest building in the Gleistal Valley. During archaeological excavations in 2010, the foundations of a Romanesque apse from the previous building were discovered in the choir. The tower is remarkable in several respects. There are two additional floors above the vaulted choir. In addition to an entrance from the attic, there is a gate on the east side at the height of the first floor, which was apparently accessible via a kind of drawbridge. Also significant about the tower is the slated half-timbered upper floor, evidently the oldest of its kind in Thuringia. The current nave has undergone several alterations. The spiral stone, which led to a west gallery, and the portal jamb from the late Gothic period have been preserved. The design of the entrance portal can be found in a similar form in the Jena City Church.

Approximately 100 meters south of the Hohe Lehde lookout point is the Sera Stone. It commemorates the solstice festivals celebrated on the Hohe Lehde by the Jena publisher Eugen Diederichs and the Sera Circle he founded in 1904. This youth movement came to an end with the outbreak of World War I. The stone was erected in 1919 to commemorate the young men who died in the war.

Between Bonsig and Zietschkuppe, peonies bloom from May to June. Some perennial peonies may bloom as early as early May. In cooler locations, the flowers open from late May to early June and then bloom well into June.
