This is the only ferry across the Elbe-Lübeck Canal. It connects the communities of Siebeneichen and Fitzen. Even if you don't actually have to cross to the other side, the crossing is worth it for the experience alone. Especially since the ferry is free, but a donation is requested. 👍 I think it's great that the ferry is still operated on a voluntary basis (beginning of April - end of October; Sat/Sun/holidays 10am-6pm. A donation box for the crossing is available. Money is used to maintain the ferry. Today I had an informative crossing with the history of this ferry. Since the farmer didn't want a bridge on his land back then, but preferred a ferry, he got it🔝. If only it were all that easy these days.....😉
