This old cemetery in Gülzow has been around since 1912. It is located a little outside of the city and is therefore very quiet. Here you can be alone with your thoughts and find peace. In front of the entrance by the cemetery wall there is a bench where you can take a rest.

Gülzow is a municipality in the district of the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein, originally part of the territory of the Duchy of Saxe-Lauenburg. Eight kilometers away are the town of Geesthacht to the west, Lauenburg/Elbe to the south and Schwarzenbek to the north. The village of Gülzow in the area of the Sadelbande is first mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register from 1230 (Gvltsowe). It belongs to a group of Slavic-named places, Kollow, Börse, Krukow, Thömen and Krüzen, which lie outside the old settlement area of the Abodrites and whose districts belong to the areas opened up by the Saxon expansion in the 10th century at the latest. In the 11th century, this area, located on the forest belt and originally forming the border between Saxons and Slavs, was occupied by Polabians, who successfully maintained their settlements until the beginning of the colonization period. The place name Gülzow (Old Polabian *Golišov) is a formation from a personal name and means "settlement of the Golisch". Coat of arms blazon: "In gold with a black border a blue heraldic lily, accompanied on the right and left top by an inverted red triangle (spike)." The lily refers to the noble Schack family. This small tower stands directly at the intersection of Schlossstraße and Hauptstraße in Gülzow. Together with the castle wall, it is a witness to times long past.

The Linau was dammed here to create this idyllic fishing lake, where you can also take a break a little way off the road.
