The village church of Hönow is a fieldstone church dating from the 13th century. It was restored and reopened to the public after suffering severe damage from bombing and artillery fire during the war. These churches are a common sight in the Berlin area, the Mark Brandenburg region, and even in Berlin itself. In Berlin, these churches are among the oldest and best-preserved buildings. Visitors to the church should be aware that it is surrounded by the village cemetery and should behave accordingly.

The plastered hall church, made of fieldstone, was first documented in the Middle Ages, in 1375 in the land register of Charles IV. It was probably a simple rectangular church building made of five-sided hewn fieldstone, the remains of which can still be seen on the west and north sides of the church. Burned down during the Thirty Years' War, the residents rebuilt it after 1684 with a truss and hipped roof.

A very beautiful spot 😊 👍 I even spotted a few grey herons here, standing still in the water, waiting for prey. A lovely spot to take a short breather during a hike.

In the Erpetal Valley, you can observe an astonishing variety of birds, among other animals—especially for an area so close to the city. In addition to grey herons, ducks, tits, and others, you can even spot kingfishers.
