Oderberg lies on the northern edge of the Oderbruch, the old town lies between rugged slopes and the "Old Oder". The Ice Age shaped the surprisingly high mountains in the otherwise relatively flat landscape and influenced the course of the Oder. Embedded in this favorable environment, Oderberg was for a long time an important source of customs income for the sovereigns.
