A memorial plaque on a particularly striking rock formation near the Knochenstampe commemorates a tragic accident. The messenger Christiane Müller from Pulsnitz got lost in a snowstorm on March 5, 1756, fell down the cliff face and died. Since then, this rocky cliff has been known locally as the Dead Woman.
