The copper statue Henry I, also known as Henry the Fowler, was a king of the East Frankish Empire from 919 to 936. He was born around 876 and died on July 2, 936, in Memleben. He was the first king from the Saxon line. The town of Arneburg was probably founded around 925 on a hill overlooking the Elbe River under his rule.

Henry the Fowler, King of the Franks and Saxons, built a castle here in Arneburg at the end of the 8th century to stop the Hungarians.

From the viewing platform you can enjoy beautiful views of the Elbe and the floodplain landscape. The registry office is also located here, and you can even get married here and have the celebration in the castle restaurant.

High up on the Old Market there is a fountain typical of the region, a beautiful photo opportunity

St. George is considered the oldest church in the Altmark and was built in the first half of the 12th century, the transept and choir in the early 13th century. The windows show the transition from Romanesque to Gothic. Inside there is a Baroque altar and the organ built by August Zabel in 1818-21.
