Henry I, also known as Henry the Fowler, was a king of the East Frankish Empire from 919 to 936. He was born around 876 and died on July 2, 936, in Memleben. He was the first king from the Saxon line. The town of Arneburg was probably founded around 925 on a hill overlooking the Elbe River under his rule.
