The most important food plants for our butterfly caterpillars are listed: nettles (several species), clover and vetch (blue butterflies), sorrel (copper butterflies), violets (fritillary butterflies), grasses (white butterflies), cabbage/cress (white butterflies), and willows and poplars (imperial purple butterflies).
