Near the Mainburg hydroelectric power plant, the Mariazell Railway runs through the Pielach Valley, crossing the road at a level crossing in an open landscape. The line lies between Rabenstein an der Pielach and the request stop in Mainburg and is surrounded by fields, meadows, and the Pielach River. The level crossing is also accessible to cyclists, as the Pielach Valley Cycle Path runs in close proximity. This makes the characteristic combination of railway, river, and technical facilities like the hydroelectric power plant particularly enjoyable to experience from a bicycle.

A great bike path Because the paths are relatively straight and have no steep climbs or descents, the bike path is very pleasant to ride. Completely different from the bike paths that are often carelessly crammed into the landscape.

Unfortunately, it's privately owned and not open to the public. A few years ago, I wrote a blacksmithing report on the impressive window grilles and had access to the entire site for a day. It's a shame that some of the castles aren't accessible.
