The small municipal area stretches above the Inn Valley (Inntal) east of Innsbruck, at the foot of the Brandenberg Alps. Situated at an altitude of 575 m, Mariastein, nestled in the vast forests along the Inn, is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in Tyrol.
