A spring chapel was built directly next to the former charcoal burner's house. Originally, the Auberg residents went to this chapel to fetch the healing water. Today, the water can no longer be found there. During our research, two neighbors told us that the current owner of the house complained that the chapel was suffering from excessive moisture due to the water, and had therefore decided to channel the spring into the house. According to information from the current owner, this spring has always been the property's domestic water source. Approximately 25-30 years ago, the fifth previous owner removed the water from the chapel to protect the cultural heritage, the chapel, and statues, from the destructive moisture. A shady rest area right at the crossroads before Hollerberg

The 16th century was marked by peasant revolts. Officially, these revolts were "religious wars," but the root cause of the Upper Austrian peasant uprisings of 1525 and 1595 lay in the catastrophic economic conditions triggered by the increase in corvée labor (work for the lord of the manor) and the ever-rising tithes (taxes) levied by both ecclesiastical and secular landowners. From 1595 to 1597, peasant revolts repeatedly broke out, originating in St. Peter and Niederwaldkirchen. The peasant revolts ended in 1597 (St. Peter was forced to swear an oath of submission on July 18, 1597). The actual Peasants' War began in 1626; the peasants of St. Peter participated particularly heavily in the siege of Linz. The Protestant peasants were forced to convert to Catholicism. As a result of the Counter-Reformation, no Protestants appear in St. Peter from 1682 onwards.

Beautiful old and top-restored courtyard. You could spend a lot of time here to see everything in detail. If you come by here on your hike, you should plan some time.

More interesting than the Wetterstein is the view of St. Peter including the orientation table!

A beautifully situated church. Here you should definitely take the time to walk around at least once to see them from all angles. At the back you can also take a break on benches.

This herb garden was created with an incredible amount of effort and attention to detail. "Entering is not only allowed, but desired" - announces the board at the entrance. Don't miss this opportunity! Great place for a rest on the granite pilgrimage route. And you can also listen to the concert of the frogs, which obviously feel at home in the biotope ;-)
