ヒレスハイムでの周辺の簡単なハイキングとウォーキング

A lovely place to stop for refreshments after a hike around Hillesheim. The cake is highly recommended.

In Bolsdorf, a small village a few kilometers from the center of Hillesheim, which hikers or walkers can reach, for example, via a path through the "Bolsdorf Valley," there is a beautifully maintained chapel. The church has been entrusted to Saint Margaret as its patron saint. Visitors will find her statue on the left side wall in front of the apse. She holds a palm branch in one hand, the symbol of martyrdom in Christian iconography. Opposite her on the right side wall is Anthony of Padua, dressed in the classic Franciscan habit. The keystone on the ceiling of the nave displays several dates—the oldest, 1505, the consecration date—and in the center, the Lamb of God with the victorious banner, a symbol of the conquest of death and suffering.

The church in the center of Hillesheim has as its patron saint one of the most famous saints in the rich history of the church: Saint Martin. Given this beautiful church, it is pointless to speculate which of the numerous saints venerated in the Catholic (and partly also in the Protestant) Church holds the highest place in the hearts of children: + Could it be Saint Martin (Bishop of Tours), under whose time-honored patronage this church was placed, who served as a soldier in the Roman army before his calling; and whose generous sharing of his cloak with the poor beggar is still commemorated today in lantern processions on his feast day (November 11th). + Or perhaps it is more likely Saint Nicholas (Bishop of Myra), who, as is well known, bestows his gifts on the good children in the run-up to Christmas on the eve of his feast day (December 6th).

Starting from Hillesheim, the so-called "Bolsdorfer Tälchen" is a popular destination for walkers or hikers who just want to take a short stroll (although the path is also shared with cyclists). On a longer hike, the route can be easily planned as a stopover.

A mini-museum would be an even better description. While walking or hiking in the Bolsdorf Valley, you almost inevitably pass by it. A glimpse through the window was possible.

In the long-gone days of our grandparents, a central bakehouse was common for the village community. In many places, these were eventually demolished. Here in Bolsdorf, however, it has been preserved and still bears witness to the old days.
