The "Sri Vitthal Dham Mandir" ashram advertises itself as a place for encounters with the divine and with people who are also on the spiritual path. Inaugurated in 2023, the temple offers a place to switch off from everyday life and engage with the language of the heart. The Ibra Reservoir is a "Holy Lake" for the religious community and has been renamed "Chandrabhaga Lake." The "Ranganath Beach Café" also invites hikers with less spiritual inclinations to a relaxing stop, offering vegan options.

At the end of November 2020, the Seepark Hotel in Kirchheim was sold to the religious community "Bhakti Marga," which plans to establish its Hindu Germany Center there. The coronavirus pandemic had severely impacted the hotel; without the sale, it would have gone bankrupt. The waterski facility and swimming facilities at the lake remained in operation.

The "Wupp die Kupp" fairytale trail in Little Red Riding Hood Land begins at the Ibra Reservoir in Kirchheim Lake Park and runs for 12 kilometers through the Knüll Nature Park. The highlight is the 487-meter-high Ibrakuppe.

This memorial stone, inscribed "1977," commemorates a catastrophe: The seven-and-a-half-meter-high and 130-meter-long dam, built in 1974, burst during a storm on August 22, 1977, at 3:25 p.m. The floodwaters from the Ibra reservoir, 500,000 cubic meters of water, poured into the valley of the Ibra and Aula rivers in a flood wave up to three meters high. The towns of Reimboldshausen, Gershausen, Kirchheim, Kleba, Hattenbach, and Niederaula were particularly hard hit. Streets and cellars were flooded and covered in mud, and the Knüllwaldbahn railway line was washed out. Some livestock drowned, but no one was injured. The total damage amounted to thirty million marks. The dam was rebuilt in 1979.

The dam in the Ibra Valley (Ibra Reservoir), built in 1974 for flood protection, is also used for leisure and recreation. Kirchheim Lake Park offers campsites, holiday homes, waterskiing facilities, beach volleyball courts, and other sports facilities, as well as a conference hotel. The 8.4-hectare, up to eight-meter-deep bathing lake is visited by an average of around 60 bathers per day; during peak season, the number can rise to 300.

Great nature with wonderful views

The unobstructed view on the west side of the Eisenberg allows a view over to the Knüllköpfchen - thus the direct line of sight between the two highest mountains of the Knüllgebirge (Eisenberg 635.5 m / Knüllköpfchen 633.8 m above sea level).

Otto Krebs was chairman of the Knüllgebirge Association from 1978 to 1986 and subsequently honorary chairman. He was one of the initiators of the Heußner House (which is now sadly vacant). The meadow named after Otto Krebs is owned by the Knüllgebirge Association.
