😎Historical Site: The Radeweg House 🌲📜 (Online research and archive search) This building was once an essential component of the Count's forestry administration in Wernigerode. Its location on the Radeweg, one of the main transport routes of the forest district, was strategic. The most likely original function was that of a logging warden's house (high probability). A junior forestry official lived here, directly organizing and measuring the timber harvest (the "Schlag") on site and overseeing its transport towards Wernigerode or to the ironworks. In doing so, he ensured compliance with sustainability regulations and indirectly secured the charcoal supply for the mining operations of the Upper Harz Water Management System. ______________________ After the end of the monarchy (from 1918) and during the GDR era, the building's use changed, but further research is needed (FDGB recreation facility / see photo circa 1960). Today, the Radeweghaus is a lost place in the Upper Harz Mountains.

If only this were a restaurant. But it is, I don't know either.

There are plenty of parking spaces. From here, it's not far to the Carlshaus Tower.
