The view is truly phenomenal. To the north are the Willeskop lakes, and to the south, the vast polders.

The first 2 years of my life I lived opposite this forest. I can't remember anything about it but it does create a bond. My grandmother, where we lived at the time (shortage of housing is everyday) sometimes told that her father secretly went chopping wood during the war. That was of course extremely dangerous. Despite the logging during the war, the forest has dried out considerably and in some places is a beautiful rich forest.

There's plenty of flora and fauna to discover in the Biesbosch National Park. The park's museum and café are also a must-see. It's important to check the ferry service to Crezée in advance.

This is the lookout tower of Willeskop. From here you can view the surrounding meadows.

Along a peace and quiet area for birds.

Today I walked the entire route: "As old as the road to Kralingen". 36.5km of enjoyment! I passed by here.

National Park De Biesbosch is on the list of protected nature reserves. De Biesbosch is partly used for agriculture and there is a lot of (water) recreation. Specially constructed reservoirs provide for the storage of clean surface water. Since 1994, De Biesbosch has been a national park, where work is now in full swing to give more space to the rivers.
