Not far from the summit of the Aschberg stands this imposing Bismarck statue from 1901.

At 76.8 meters, the Boxberg is not the highest elevation in the Aukrug Nature Park, but it is one of the few moraine peaks in central Holstein that deserves the name "mountain." The Itzespitze, at 83.4 meters, is even higher than the Boxberg. Today, only a few beech trees grow on the grounds of the Boxberg recreational forest. Moving Bismarck: 1901 first erected in Apenrade, on the occasion of the 1920 referendum in Schleswig, where Apenrade became Danish, Bismarck was kept in a barn near Rendsburg for 10 years, until it was finally erected here in 1930.
