The hike leads through a forest reserve.

The Hinterrugg (or Hinderrugg) is the highest peak (2306 m above sea level) of the Churfirsten group in the Appenzell Alps.

A great mountain, which can get a bit crowded on nice days. It's worth hiking up as the trails are great!

You can also stay overnight at the Tanzboden, for example, if you're hiking the Toggenburg High Trail. Please note, however, that reservations cannot be made from Sunday to Monday or Monday to Tuesday, as Monday is a day of rest. The path up here is quite challenging and rough in the lower part (Langeboden to Gulmehütte) and without any view in the forest, but up to the summit it is much easier and in more open terrain.
