The market square with its half-timbered showcase houses, the Protestant church and the market fountain are all calendar motifs.

Calw's old town enchants with its colorful alleys, half-timbered houses, bridges, and history. Its most famous son was Hermann Hesse, whose footsteps can be found everywhere. The Nagold River flows through the town, adding the icing on the cake.

From 1586 to 1592, the Dukes of Württemberg had a three-winged Renaissance-style palace built on the site of the abbot's house, south of the cloister. During a siege by French troops under General Mélac during the War of the Palatinate Succession, the palace and monastery went up in flames on September 19/July/September 29, 1692. Initially, only the roofs were missing, but by 1808, the complex had increasingly lost masonry, which was used, among other things, for the reconstruction of Calw. Source: Wikipedia

Unfortunately, the church was closed and only the church next door could be visited.
