After visiting the impressive lookout tower and the Prochenhütte, be sure to visit the summit cross. The panorama is breathtaking and alpine. It's recommended to leave your bike at the bottom just before the final climb. If it's not too heavy, you can also carry or push it up for a summit photo; it's not far.

"The Voralpe, or Voralm, is a mountain in the Ybbstal Alps in the border triangle of Lower Austria, Upper Austria, and Styria. The mountain has two main peaks: the 1,770 m (5,700 ft) high Stumpfmauer on the border between Lower Austria and Upper Austria, which drops steeply to the southeast; and further southwest, the 1,727 m (5,700 ft) high Tanzboden on the border between Lower Austria and Styria. The border triangle is located in the saddle between the peaks. The Stumpfmauer is the highest elevation in the Steyr-Land district. The Voralpe can be climbed from Hollenstein an der Ybbs or from Altenmarkt, partly via roads and partly via trails, in about three hours. The newly renovated Prochenberghütte is located on Ybbsitz's local mountain and is run by volunteers. Next to the hut there is a lookout tower that promises a great panorama. The hut can be reached on foot, by mountain bike and snowshoes. It was super nice and great view, food was also very tasty.

There are always a few parking spaces on the Haselstein - if it's too wet, the descent via the Waldkapelle is very slippery and the Prochenbergstraße is not so nice to walk on

03/04/2023 - The ascent partly on the Bußweg is exhausting but worth the effort. Some sins can be worked off. I chose the circular route to the upper chapel, but the length was 6.54 km. Personally, I find the paths through the forest very beautiful here, with a view of Waidhofen from the top.

The view of Waidhofen is simply indescribable, especially when the early morning mist is visible in the autumn. I will definitely look for a photo of it in my gallery. The chapel is also worth a visit in winter, as you can also get a good view from here.
