Vertavillo is a charming municipality in the province of Palencia, Castilla y León. This village, located in the Cerrato region, offers a rich history and an impressive natural environment.

Typical Castilian town with an interesting old town. It has a wine cellar area as it belongs to the Cigales wine designation of origin. It has a very nice inn, two churches and a good gastronomic offer with two good restaurants. It is recommended to leave from Valoria to enter the Cerrato Palentino.

Here you will find the Hermitage of the Virgen del Llano with a beautiful park around it. There is a playground and a picnic area. There are also great views of the surrounding area from here.

This small town sits on the side of a small mountain, El Castillo, and overlooks the plains below. The Church of Santa María la Mayor is located at the highest point of the town.

It is a very calm and safe corridor to ride a bike.

The Castle of Villafuerte de Esgueva is a fortress that consists of a keep and four interior floors. It has been restored and furnished, and houses a museum inside. Built in the 15th century as part of the defensive line along the river, its first lord was García Franco, of Jewish descent and later a convert. It is believed that it was built to exercise control over property.

This is a nice flat dirt road that is easy to navigate and runs along the Esgueva River. Nice for a fast loop or something slower with kids.
