Normally, this Elbe crossing should be avoided by bike. Currently, however, there's almost no alternative. My breathtaking experience was that ALL trucks on the federal highway maintained a considerable distance or waited. Crossing the railway bridge is expected to be possible again from fall 2025.

The name of the "highlight" doesn't really fit here. Schnackenburg and Pevestorf are located on opposite sides of the Elbe. However, the section where the highlight is marked is located between Lütkenwisch and the Lenzener Schutzhafen.

The 1100 m long bridge is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.

The Hafenspeicher (harbor warehouses) in Wittenberge are striking historic buildings at the Elbe harbor and a testament to the city's industrial past. The warehouses were built in two phases. The first, smaller warehouse was constructed in 1910, while two larger warehouse buildings were added between 1938 and 1939. In recent years, extensive development projects have been initiated around the Hafenspeicher (harbor warehouses) to revitalize the area and make it usable for both residential and commercial purposes.

Currently life-threatening for cyclists, as there is a major construction site without a dedicated cycle path (October 2024). The alternative route over the railway bridge is also closed. However, there is no other way to use this dangerous route within 20 km. So you have to expose yourself to the danger here. If possible, take this problem into account when planning your tour.
