The Freedom Rocks are a fun, patriotic tourist attraction throughout the state of Iowa that began in 1999. In all 99 counties, you’ll find a large rock painted with portraits of soldiers and local history. The Artist, Bubba Sorensen, describes the project as “a unique 99-piece mural”. Perry’s trailhead is cute, welcoming, and functional from its one-legged candycane arch to the massive car lot (48-hour parking! Woo!). Porta potty’s, upgraded water fountains, colored lawn chairs, food trucks, and a bike maintenance stand/tools are available. The trail itself splinters off in several directions. One part toward Jefferson/Dawson/Jamaica/Redfield, another toward Woodward/Ankeny, and a third section toward Dallas center/adel/waukee. The trail winds through town in a very intentional sort of way, hitting several parks, restaurants, the hospital, and showing off some of Perry’s more interesting qualities.

The path takes a slight departure from the road here and veers into the trees. It's a short, but fun little detour to take along Oakdale Boulevard.

The Clear Creek Trail is a paved, multiuse path that travels along a wonderful shaded stretch along its namesake creek. It's a great ride at any time of year, but during the autumn color season it really hits its zenith.

In addition to serving as a trailhead for a number of trails, you'll also find shelter, bathroom and bike repair station here. It's a great place to start and/or end your ride.

Totaling just over 18 miles, the Iowa River Corridor Trail is an incredible way to explore or commute between Iowa City and North Liberty. There are multiple intersections with other trails, so you can expand your exploration as you see fit.

The road crosses over the Iowa river here and gives you excellent views across the water.

Gray's Lake Park has a total size of 166-acres and is located in the heart of Des Moines. The lake of the same name is the park's main feature and is surrounded by a path for cycling and hiking. One of the highlights is the bridge that crosses the lake, as it can be illuminated in the evening and nighttime.
