Castle Chapel and Capuchin Monastery The northernmost Rococo chapel in Bavaria—this is how the Clemenswerth Castle Church is often called because of its richness of color and form. With its murals, stucco work, and large ceiling fresco, as well as its high altar, pulpit, and princely box, it is one of J.C. Schlaun's most significant interior creations. In 1741, the pious Electoral founder summoned the Capuchin Order to this location, from where they continue to provide pastoral care in the northern Emsland region. Behind the castle chapel stands the multi-story monastery building with the adjoining large monastery garden of the Capuchin friars. The Gallerieholländer windmill is lovingly maintained and cared for by an association. That's why you can admire it today in its original condition from 1881 - although it was badly damaged in the past. During the summer months it is open every Saturday morning and can be visited. A very handsome deer sculpture appears on the pond at the end of the Clemenswerther Jagdschloss garden.

This wooden church is simply worth seeing. Lovingly processed down to the smallest detail. There is only a relatively small Romanian Orthodox community in Sögel, the churchgoers come from all over Lower Saxony and also from North Rhine-Westphalia. Guided tours can also be booked.
