These are the 'Witten Mountains'. Dunes that probably formed during the last ice age 😉

Lembeck Castle is surrounded by the castle garden, wide meadows with isolated trees, an alder grove and, to the north, a beech forest with rhododendrons.

As already described, here I agree with the other tipsters: The surrounding nature is wonderful, the narrow paths, the springy forest floor under your feet, but the A31 motorway, the intersecting federal roads and the shooting range do not ensure maximum relaxation.

The common whitebeam (Sorbus aria) is a native deciduous tree and was chosen as Tree of the Year 2024. It grows to a height of 15-20 meters when fully grown. This freshly planted specimen is still a long way from that—but everyone starts small.
