The Pfaffenteich in Schwerin is a centrally located body of water in the heart of the city and is one of its most famous landmarks. It was artificially created in the Middle Ages and originally served as a millpond. Today, the approximately twelve-hectare Pfaffenteich is a popular spot for walks and relaxation. Surrounded by historic buildings, it offers a picturesque view of Schwerin's skyline with the imposing cathedral in the background. The lakeside promenade is particularly charming, with cafés and benches inviting visitors to linger. In summer, small boats cruise the pond, and events and festivals are regularly held here – a lively meeting place for locals and visitors alike.

Somehow, I don't understand such highlights. This HL is supposed to describe the entire circuit around Schwerin's Outer Lake? For example, from Seehof to Seehof? And what's along the way for 35 km? There are tons of HLs. Komoot rule... Don't set tours as HLs. By the way, on the other side of the Outer Lake... Loose, powdered sand without end...almost only accessible by mountain bike.

Lake Schwerin and the city of Schwerin...worth a trip. It's a great drive around the lake. Schwerin has a lot of cobblestones.

This viewpoint is located on a hilltop. There are two benches there. The bike path is excellent...it's easy to climb if you're coming from Schwerin. But anyone should be able to climb this little hilltop. The view is fantastic.

Events are regularly held at the Pfaffenteich, such as dragon boat races, cycling races, art installations and various festivals. The Pfaffenteich (Low German: Papendiek) was created by building a dam (later called Spieltordamm) at the northern end, probably shortly after the town was founded in the 12th century, initially as a mill pond in what was once a boggy depression. The body of water originally extended about 350 meters further south to the level of Schloßstraße, where the mill dam bordered it to the south and a water mill documented since 1178 was in operation. From here the water flowed into the Burgsee. A count's mill was in operation until the 19th century. A second mill stood on the Aubach, which became the property of the cathedral chapter, from then on was called the Bischofsmühle and was in operation until 1914. A frequent topic of dispute between the counts and the cathedral chapter, which also took possession of the mill pond, was the water's dam height.
