The Sellin pier is one of the landmarks of the island of Rügen. In my opinion, it's the most beautiful pier in the Baltic Sea. The view from above over the Himmelsleiter (Stairway to Heaven) and the pier itself is particularly impressive. A visit at sunrise is especially recommended! 👌 When visiting the pier, you can learn a lot about its history thanks to information panels. At the end of the pier, there's a diving gondola that allows you to dive to the seabed. The pier restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the kitchen is open from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The pier is simply stunning! It hides modestly behind the steep bank before overwhelming us with its appearance. Even though it was built according to a historical model, this magnificent building is not a museum, but invites us to stroll, to enjoy, to get married or to take a boat trip.

The Selin pier is magnificent, whether from the top of the beach or from the bridge itself.

At the moment (May 2023) a lot is being built above the pier. The pier itself is quite nice, but the access road above the pier is paved with many construction sites. We have decided not to visit Sellin again for another 3 years, hopefully when the construction site activity has ended.

An experience day and night

Entering the impressive Sellin pier is part of every obligatory visit to this seaside resort. A total of 85 steps lead down to the pier, but you can also use an elevator to reach the stunning structure. Above the steps there are several metal arches where you can lock your bike, because the pier can only be entered on foot. On the pier, some gastronomic offers will spoil your palate or you can climb into the diving gondola and make an interesting journey into the underwater world of the Baltic Sea. You will find the diving gondola at the end of the pier. The pier is not only a popular destination during the day. Because even in the evening, the wonderfully illuminated building attracts countless visitors, especially photographers.
