What you assume here regarding the route of the Hermannsweg is quite harsh. The normal route takes a detour from the ridge over the terrace - ok, apparently someone with a commercial interest had influence here. Thanks to Corona, this route is now closed. The path then doesn't stay at the top of the ridge, but instead leads past the tavern all the way down into the valley and up again. For me, this is hard to beat in terms of greed for profit and disrespect for the hikers and should actually lead to a boycott of the pub until they learn it.

But instead of up along the ridge, hikers are first led down into the valley and then straight back up again - apparently just so that they can get past the tavern. What shoud that????

Harkotten Castle is a rare double castle (Castle von Ketteler and Castle von Korff) and in private use. However, you can stop by the garden café there for coffee and cake and take a look at the facility from the outside.

Bad Rothenfelde is a very beautiful health resort in the Osnabrück region. It is a state-approved spa with a lot of good brine air. The special attraction and landmark of the spa are the mighty graduation towers, which are the largest in Western Europe at 416 m and 114 m in length. With a trickle surface made of an 80 cm thick black thorn hedge, these open-air inhalers noticeably influence the climate, which is conducive to health, by enriching the air with the smallest salt and other mineral particles. The Vinnenberg monastery looks very beautiful. The restaurant opposite is also very nice and inviting, especially with the seating by the pond. Simply fantastic. Highly recommended.

The castle and the park are very beautiful and picturesque. You look very neat. The park is very bright and open, so it is very inviting to stroll and linger.

Bad Iburg with its beautiful castle and spa gardens are definitely worth a visit. Those who like to hike or explore the area by bike will find the necessary infrastructure here.

If you are there on the weekend, you should definitely take a guided tour of the castle! It's worth it.
