A little away from the hustle and bustle at the Bismarck Tower is this rest area with a view of the dams.

For the steep ascent you will also be rewarded with a great view.

The Großer Knollen is one of the exposed mountains of the southern Harz, from which one has an excellent view of the surrounding area up to the Brocken and Wurmberg. You don't necessarily have to climb the round tower to do this. There is a cozy restaurant with a few seats outside. The landlord has only recently taken over, hospitality is important to him, because he sold us a few cool drinks despite the day off (Monday). Especially in Corona times you should hike here and support the nice restaurateurs. And when you've climbed up, you've earned a cool drink.

From the bizarre cliff you have a fantastic view of Altenau, Schulenberg and the Okertalsperre. Oh yes, a little bit too
