      For me, the Hanskühnenburg is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the Harz Mountains. Here you can get delicious home-cooked food and the service is always very friendly. There are lots of places to sit outside, and if the weather isn't so good you can also sit inside and warm yourself up by the crackling fire. If the weather is good, you can enjoy a fantastic view in all directions from the observation tower. The easiest way to get here is from Stieglitzecke, but you can also get to the Hanskühnenburg from Osterode am Harz, Riefensbeek-Kamschlacken, Lonau and Sieber. You can also get here via the Harzer BaudenSteig long-distance hiking trail.

      In the entrance area there is stamp box 144 of the Harz hiking pin.

                  One of the most beautiful and rustic mountain restaurants I know. Cozy by the roaring fireplace or stove (it's both there). Good food (really homemade) at fair prices. Nice service. Extremely rewarding. The path over the raised bog requires surefootedness and is more difficult in snow and wet conditions.

                    After a strenuous hike we got a cheap meal and a stamp for the Harzer hiking aristocracy and the badge "Harzer Baudenstieg"
                    The staff were friendly, the food filling and inexpensive and there is always a hearty vegetarian dish.
                    The tower is also open to the public and offers great views.
                    I absolutely recommend a side trip.

                                            The Hanskühnenburg rock is one of the numerous, for the ridge "On the field" characteristic rock cliffs. Compared to most other cliffs, the Hanskühnenburgfelsen, however, has a small size.
                                            The about five meters high rock formation is located on the crest of the "Ackers" directly on the trail just a few meters east of the Hanskühnenburg-Baude. The rock is easy to see from this Baude and practically impossible to miss.
                                            The Hanskühnenburgfelsen consists of Acker-Bruchberg-Quarzit, a very hard and for the eye almost structureless rock. This particular material aroused the interest of the geologically interested Johann Wolfgang von Goethe already in the 18th century. This visited the Hanskühnenburgfelsen in August 1784 as part of his third Harz trip. To commemorate this event, in 1999 a bronze plaque with a corresponding inscription was placed on the rock.
