The ownership and construction history of the former manor are only partially known. In 1495 it was owned by the von der Drössel family, later Kress von Kressenstein, and in 1717 it was again owned by the von der Dressels. Around 1700 there was a manor house. From 1946 it was a training center for new teachers and from 1948 to 1950 it was a district youth school for the FDJ youth organization. Since 1951 the building has been a youth hostel, later an "International Youth Hostel" and in 1987 it was given the title of "Most Beautiful Youth Hostel in the GDR".
