Sitia is a small port town and the center of sparsely populated northeastern Crete. Tourist offerings are largely limited to cafés and restaurants along the large harbor promenade, allowing the town to retain its original charm.

A Venetian castle located on a hill in the old town. From here, you can overlook the harbor and the surrounding bay. Can be visited every day except Tuesdays; admission is €5 (as of May 2025). Sitia (Greek: Σητεία) is a port town in the eastern part of the Greek island of Crete, about 70 kilometers from Agios Nikolaos. The ferry from Piraeus via Iraklion to the islands of the Dodecanese stops here. There has also been an international airport since 2005.
