One of the climbing destinations around Annweiler. I was up there once. The normal route in three pitches was a little adventure. Right next to it is the climbing hut with a nice refreshment stop.

The Ludwigsturm is a 15 meter high observation tower made of sandstone on the southern flank of the Blattsberg summit plateau in the Haardt, the eastern edge of the Palatinate Forest. It was named after the Bavarian King Ludwig I. It is classified as a cultural monument. You have an all-round view. Can see the Trifels and the Anna Chapel. Source: Wikipedia

A rock that can be seen from afar and has long been known as a climbing paradise.

Tip: come here during the week and enjoy the wonderful view. The popular viewing point is very busy when the weather is good and on weekends.

It is worthwhile to linger here and walk around the rock formation to the east as well. The way over the Teufelsfelsen gives no idea what this highlight looks like when viewed from below. Swarm and enjoy!

Also good for non-far hikers, as you can get there very close by car. Directly above the climbing hut. Those who like it further can of course still go up the Rehbergturm and the Trifels. A wonderful way.

From the eastern end of the Asselstein you have a great view of Trifels Castle.
