There are several paths in the Schaumburg Forest where cycling is expressly prohibited (as indicated by signs)! This should be respected at all costs. Anyone who doesn't will literally end up "on the wrong track"; such paths often end in the middle of the forest and/or in a bottomless mud hole. 🙈🥵 Woe to anyone who gets stuck or falls there!

There are few trails in the Schaumburg Forest that are as freely and comfortably navigable. When heavy machinery has been working in the forest, even the few paved trails should be enjoyed with caution. Side trails and less paved paths are then considered "adventurous" or even impassable.

Great cycle path to Enzen

The Protestant church is the center and landmark of Frille. Its 52-meter-high tower, visible from afar, provides a beautiful orientation aid for cyclists. The church was built in 1910-11 in the Neo-Romanesque style; the interior also features Art Nouveau elements. It replaced a 14th-century predecessor church, which by the early 20th century had become dilapidated and too small for the growing congregation. The first church in Frille dates back to around the year 1000. The valuable "Frille Cross" (early 14th century), the St. Mary's Bell (1430), and the Baroque baptismal font (1681) still have their place in the present church. What makes the church special is not just its unusual size. The municipality of Frille (including Wietersheim, Päpinghausen, and Cammer in Schaumburg) is the only one in North Rhine-Westphalia that belongs to the Schaumburg Regional Church.

The strawberry fields for self-picking are just across the street. And the strawberry cake isn't far behind either.

The convent can look back on a 1,200-year history. Its founding around the year 820 is not precisely documented. During the Reformation, it was converted into a convent for the daughters of the Schaumburg family. From 1814 onward, anyone was again welcome to enter. The monastery is still occupied today.
