Schloss Bückeburg is a castle in Bückeburg and ancestral seat of the House of Schaumburg-Lippe, Otto's son Ernst von Holstein-Schaumburg, who ruled from 1601 to 1622 and was prince in 1619, made Bückeburg his residence in 1607. He granted her city rights, had new roads laid out, fortifications and buildings built; including the town church with the early baroque facade from 1615. On the market square he had the outer castle portal with a flanking administration building, the Princely Court Chamber, which still exists today, and the ballroom built. Ernst transformed the garden laid out under his father into a typical, quite representative Renaissance garden. In 1622 the great stables were the last to be built. The palace chapel received an early baroque wooden decoration and was completely painted in the Mannerist style. The filigree wooden decoration of the palace chapel was made by the two Hildesheim sculptors Ebbert the Younger and Jonas Wulff.

The approximately 2700 footprints of different types of dinosaurs are in one of the Obernkirchen sandstone quarries. They were discovered in 2007 and 2008 and exposed by paleontologists from the Lower Saxony State Museum in Hanover. The traces were found within the 6 to 9 meter thick Obernkirchen sandstone, which lies under younger surface layers here. The trace fossils are attributed to the Berriasian (Lower Cretaceous, about 145.5 to 140.2 million years ago) and lie in two horizons. In the lower horizon there are mainly traces of smaller theropods, which are often referred to as "raptors" in the media. In the upper horizon, traces of animals from different ages that resemble Iguanodontipus and cf. Caririchnium dominate. The fact that the traces were so well preserved is due to the fact that the fresh prints were quickly superimposed by storm sands. Source: Wikipedia

The view in front of the tower is very nice. You can walk upstairs on the terrace and see further. I couldn't get to the top because the door was closed. You can eat or drink something down in the forest restaurant. This is also a good place to take a break because the route is not that easy.
