The castle is nice to look at, there is a coffee garden (if not closed due to Corona) and a game meat sale.

It wasn't overcrowded either, so you can keep your distance. When King George V of Hanover once gave Marienburg Castle as a gift to his wife, Queen Marie, he had no idea that his token of love would one day be one of the most impressive neo-Gothic architectural monuments in Germany. Between 1858 and 1867, this hilltop castle, built in the neo-Gothic style, was built on the legendary Marienberg, which was - as it was said - inhabited by dwarves, which its owner immediately took into her heart and called "my little Eldorado". But fate had it differently: just as the king, who had been blind since his early youth, was never to see his gift with his own eyes, his beloved wife Marie was never to live there properly.
