The C-160 "Transall" was designed as a medium tactical transport aircraft by Germany and France and produced jointly. The aircraft was characterized by particularly good short take-off and landing characteristics and could also be used from makeshift runways. It proved particularly useful in humanitarian missions. No other aircraft was in service with the German armed forces for as long as the Transall. From 1968 onwards it replaced the Noratlas Nord 2501 as the standard transport aircraft and was then replaced by the Airbus A400M. You can see a decommissioned example of the "buzzing giant bumblebee" here on site at the old train station. The LTG 63 (air transport squadron) had the bumblebee in its coat of arms. Beautiful nature reserve. Today I'm going on a tour towards the west coast and not, as usual, to Angeln or Schwansen. A very nice round trip from/to Hollingstedt. I included Friedrichsstadt as an intermediate destination. The landscape is very varied. Lots of rivers and wetlands. Then a few meters of elevation on the last 20 kilometers.

The Hohner See is a lake about 12 km west of the town of Rendsburg in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein near the village of Hohn. The lake is about 71 hectares in size and up to 1.0 m deep. It is the last surviving Geest flat lake in the flooded landscape of the Eider-Treene-Sorge lowlands.

Bergenhusen (Danish Berringhuse) is a municipality in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg in Schleswig-Holstein. The community is known nationwide as a stork village, as one of the largest white stork colonies in Europe is located here. Bergenhusen lies on the Geestrücken Stapelholm in the Eider-Treene-Sorge lowlands. Blumental, Brunsholm, Lüttensee and Osterfeld are in the municipal area. The eastern border of the municipal area forms the Alte Sorge, in the west the Treene flows and forms the transition to the district of North Friesland. Bergenhusen was first mentioned in 1304 as Beveringhusen (from Bewer, i.e. beaver), but archaeological finds show that Bergenhusen was also inhabited 6000 years ago, at least since the Neolithic period. This is evidenced by burial mounds and prehistoric fields. From December 1, 1905 to 1943, Bergenhusen had a railway connection through the Schleswig State Railway Station – Friedrichstadt District Railway Station of the Schleswig District Railway. Passenger traffic was discontinued on February 1, 1934, and freight traffic ended in July 1943 at the latest, as the track was dismantled on August 2, 1943. 6月 14, 2022, Steinschleuse (Stone Lock) in Stapel
The old stone sluice from 1619 is not the pumping station, but the nearby old sluice leading through a dike. The old lock got its name from being one of the first brick structures in the area. It is the oldest hydraulic structure in the area, built by Dutch specialists. If you drive towards the pumping station, turn left before the dyke and past the farm into the dead end. It's worth taking a look over the dike to see the connection. There is currently an agricultural trailer in the stone lock. The lock could be presented more attractively, after all it is a listed building.

4月 30, 2022, Stork Colony Bergenhusen
"From March to September, guests of Bergenhusen can enjoy a very special kind of nature play. Up to 19 pairs of storks raise their young here year after year. Countless nature lovers enjoy the clattering of the storks every spring when they occupy their nests and In the summer you can watch them feeding the young birds and at the end of the breeding season, the young storks' first attempts to fly are impressive." Bergenhusen was first mentioned in 1304 as Beveringhusen (Biberhausen). Today there are no beavers here, but one of the largest colonies of storks in Europe. Up to 22 pairs breed in the "Village of Storks". Just rest on one of the many benches and watch the hustle and bustle of the stork parents! I come from a stork area, but the impressions from Bergenhusen topped everything I had ever known before! A trip here is definitely worth it!
