The promenade is used by both pedestrians and cyclists and is part of several regional cycling and hiking trails. A striking feature is the Sandwig pier, built in 1902, later renovated, and now used as a mooring for excursion boats. The cliffs in the west continue to change shape and color over the years. It is partially covered by vegetation. But the slanting bands of the various sand deposits can still be clearly seen... The cliffs provide living space for sand martins. But wind and waves also cause erosion of the cliff, whereupon the removed material is moved along the beach 😏...
