To mark the 250th anniversary of Johann Peter Hebel's birth in 2010, the former village and local history museum was renovated and reopened as a literature museum on May 9, 2010. The permanent exhibition emphasizes the authentic location and thus the house in which Hebel spent most of his childhood and youth, which he was forced to leave as an orphan at the age of 13 after his mother died before his eyes.

The view here is truly wonderful, especially at sunset. You can see the Jura Mountains, Basel, and the Rhine Valley (and probably the Alps in clear weather).
