Although only a "small" castle but with a beautiful park

Duchess Friederike Sophie Dorothee von Württemberg acquired the palace and garden in 1793 and managed it until 1795. She expanded the gardens in the style of the sentimental landscape garden and had a catacomb with urns, a mausoleum, various inscriptions and retirement homes and the pillar of harmony built.

Fantaisie Castle has housed Germany's first garden art museum since 2000. The history of garden art from the 17th to the 19th century is vividly presented here using numerous and valuable exhibits. The White Hall and the replica of the famous Spindler Cabinet with its elaborate marquetry are included in the museum tour.

The park around Fantaisie Castle, which was created under different owners, combines design elements from the Rococo, Sensitivity and Historicism style phases. Three years after the death of his wife Wilhelmine, Margrave Friedrich began building a new palace, but did not live to see the completion. His daughter Elisabeth Friederike Sophie received the property in 1763 and had a late Baroque garden laid out there by 1780.
