Located on a striking hillside in the Sulztal Valley between Beilngries and Berching, Plankstetten Monastery is one of the most impressive and historically valuable monastic complexes in the Altmühltal Nature Park and is considered a monument of national importance. The complex is not a museum, but rather the home and workplace of a vibrant Benedictine community of monks. The monastery tavern offers organic beer, brewed by the Riedenburg Brewery, and delicious food. The organic shop and its accompanying wine cellar offer everything a gourmet's heart desires.

The medieval town of Berching, with its 13 towers, four gates, walkable defensive walls, and great playgrounds, awaits you! After a hike, it's worth visiting the local restaurants or cooling off your feet in the cool waters of the Sulz River in Hans Kuffer Park.

Finally reached the lake, beautiful view over the water

Rothsee! Institution... whether hiking, cycling, swimming or just relaxing. Simply great. There are also places to stop for refreshments on each side.

Always nice here. Recommended very early in the morning, shortly after sunrise, then nothing is going on here and you can enjoy the calm and relaxing effect of the water :-)
