Beautiful view from the old Aisch bridge.

Originally a fortified moated castle, of which the surrounding walls and a tower from 1574 still exist. The castle that now stands was given a baroque makeover from 1709, of which parts of the old complex are still preserved in the north wing. The south wing was built from 1719. As the former property of the Imperial Baron von Seckendorff, Weingartsgreuth Castle has been owned by the heir, Baron von Seckendorff-von Witzleben, since 1962. https://wachenroth.de/ortsteile/weingartsgreuth/

In 1049 a Count Goswin de Hohestat appears. In 1157, the castle, which was first mentioned at the time, came to the diocese of Bamberg, which renovated it under Bishop Ekbert of Meran (1208-1236). Further renovations and expansions are attested under Prince-Bishop Albert von Wertheim (1399-1421). In 1552 the city was set on fire by Margrave Albrecht Alcibiades during the Second Margrave War, but the castle survived the war unscathed. Shortly afterwards, in 1572-1574, Prince-Bishop Veit II expanded the castle into a castle-like structure, as did Prince-Bishop Lothar Franz von Schönborn between 1711 and 1713 after a fire in 1688. With secularization in 1803, Höchstadt became the seat of the Bavarian rent office and regional court. The dilapidated castle was first stabilized in 1894 and was secured again in 1963. Wiessenstein Castle in Pommersfelden was built between 1711 and 1718 under Lothar Franz von Schönborn, the Bamberg Prince-Bishop and Elector of Mainz in Pommersfelden near Bamberg as a private summer residence. It is regarded as the founding building of the Franconian Baroque and is still owned by the Schönborn family. A visit is absolutely worthwhile. Attention: Hourly guided tours! There is a good cafe nearby.

The privy councilor Wolf Christoph von Mohrenfels bought the "Reichs-Freye-Ritterguth Hemhofen" from Baron von Töstelberg in 1722 and completed the construction of the baroque palace complex in 1724. Since that time, the noble family of Winkler von Mohrenfels has been significantly involved in the history of Hemhofen. Under Georg Christoph (1709-1748), the palace and its outbuildings developed into a handsome baroque complex that was in use for centuries.
