The tower is located on a hill and is open as an observation tower during the summer months.

The Schmausenbuck is an elevation right next to the Nuremberg Zoo, in the middle of the beautiful Reichswald. For a beautiful view high above the treetops, you can climb the historic observation tower. The Reichswaldfest takes place here every year. If you just want to walk a few meters in the beautiful nature, everything is right here... unfortunately the inn was closed... but the weather and the nature were perfect 🙏🦊

Great view from the tower (the key can be borrowed for a fee from the Edelweißhütte, about 1 kilometer away). There is also a table with benches right in front of the beautiful tower.

Highly recommended. But double the highlight.

The Schmausenbuck is one of the oldest documented forest recreation and entertainment sites in the history of the fort. Celebrations are still going on here today. The Reichswaldfest takes place here every summer.

Such a beautiful tower! I would love to be up there, but I didn't ask for the key at the Edelweißhütte, the tip came too late for me.... .

Rothenberg Fortress is a former fortress on the 588 m high mountain of the same name. Access is only possible with a guided tour, but this is worthwhile and takes about 35 minutes. From the fortress you have a great view of the surrounding area and of more distant places, e.g. the wind turbines in Schweinfurt, 122km away. Unfortunately, the circular route offers hardly any views of the fortress and no view either.
