No problem, here's the text in one piece: You're standing down in Merl on the Moselle and think, "Oh, the vineyards, so pretty steep." Then you roll off toward the famous Merl Königslay Terraces and quickly realize: This isn't a vineyard, it's a wall that someone has carved into handy steps. My lungs briefly protested, but my brain just screamed: You have to go up there, you'll be longing for Riesling! Every pedal stroke was a little prayer to gravity. The slopes are so narrow and terraced, you wonder how anyone can even work here, let alone a lazy cyclist like me. This bare, gray slate everywhere. –
