For centuries, the moated castle has shaped the image and history of Taufkirchen an der Vils, an Upper Bavarian community in the eastern district of Erding. When and by whom the castle was originally built is not known. Traces of a seat of power in this place can be traced back to the Middle Ages. The castle was first mentioned in a document in 1263, which is therefore his "birth certificate". The municipality of Taufkirchen (Vils) took this date as an opportunity to celebrate the 750th anniversary of the town's cultural gem in 2013. In May 2016, the municipality of Taufkirchen (Vils) acquired the castle, primarily with the intention of keeping the complex open to the public. The castle now houses a permanent gastronomy.
